I have had a cellphone contract with MTN since November 2011, but I have been with the network for much longer. A few weeks ago I got a call from their branch in Mafikeng to say that somebody had tried to get a new handset using a ID book with my ID number. I was assured that the upgrade had not been processed, and that I had not suffered any loss. But from November 2013 MTN have been debiting ridiculous amounts of money from my bank account. I have phoned around and tried to get some kind of assistance from their client care line, in vain. It seems nobody at MTN can cancel a simple upgrade that should not have been activated to begin with, and restore my contract to what it's always been. I have been loyal to MTN for so long, but I feel that this is the end of the road for me. Think I'll cross over to Cell C.
