My daughter wrote a report yesterday about Telkom's shocking service since my wife and I (pensioners) ordered an ADSL line. The original order was placed with Fakile (Call centre) for a month-to-month uncapped basic package- 13/12/2013. On 06/01/2014 our daughter accompanied us to Telkom Pinetown store and discovered that the wrong package had been allocated to us ie: capped 5GIG, so we requested it be changed to what was originally ordered ie: uncapped basic month-to-month. Philile Ndlovu stated she would action it and request that the billing be amended accordingly. Technician finally came out yesterday to fix the line, he told us Telkom has given us a 2 year contract on uncapped, instead of the requested month-to-month. Considering that we have not even signed papers or a contract of ANY sort, this is a clear contravention of the Consumer Protection Act. It indicates nothing more than incompetence on the part of Telkom's staff that not ONE of them have been able to accurately allocate the correct package (month-to-month uncapped basic)! We are in a state of panic as we did not sign any contract! Surely this is illegal??!
