Telkom not replacing phone line after it was

Several months ago our phone lines were (apparently for the copper?) anyway Telkom in their infinite wisdom have decided it wasn't worth replacing? So I now have no home phone. I do have a cell phone but reception on the farm isn't always great. How can I be left home alone without a phone? I can't believe after 25 years of having this number we can;t get it reconnected. Is their anything I can do? The number was 0218844813
