Iphone 4s update stopped WiFi working

Why I will not ever by a Apple product. My wife's IPhone 4s update the software on her phone and trashed the WiFi. Apple do not take any resposability for this act. She has now to wait for 21 working days while someone tries to repair it. If it is repairable as the Apple store say it is not. They have tried to repair 20 units with no success. If they broke it they should replace it without any delay.
