Did not register for Vodafone Protect!!!

This is for my husband's Vodacom phone. He got the new Samsung Note 3 on Tuesday. Everything seemed to be fine. He landed in Dubai this morning and when he tried to switch his phone on, he got a message from Vodaphone Protect saying that he must put his pin in. We did not even register for this??? I phoned the call centre and they cant help and now he is in Dubai with a phone that does not work. We need to URGENTLY deactivate the program or you need to provide us with a pin. Please contact me on my Cell as his phone is not working. Your urgency in addressing this matter will be appreciated!!! My reference number from the call centre is S3-0402d - dgsdh
