Inconsistent information regarding repairs

Telecommunications

I recently entered into a contract for a Samsung Galaxy Tablet note 10.1". The consultant assisting me gave me the wrong sim and it got stuck so the next day I was back to hand it in for repairs. Two separate individuals working at the store told me that repairs only take up to a week and that I would be contacted after approximately 7 days.
I phoned after I received no feedback on whether the tablet was ready and was informed that the consultant would follow up and get back to me. They never did. I then phoned again and the individual answering the phone told me that they will only be receiving the tablet during January but that he didn't know when and couldn't find out when. I then went to the shop who told me that I should have received a job number - I never did and that I was to and that repairs normally take 2-3 weeks.
What concerns me now is that I specifically bought this tablet to take it to the USA where I will be working from 6 January for approximately 5 months and will not be available in January to fetch it. I am very disappointed with the lack of training/knowledge of the consultants and that no one is willing to follow up or can tell me what is going on.
