Pathetic Service from MTN regarding new contract.

I am an existing MTN customer and recently persuaded my wife to cancel her contract with Vodacom and join MTN.
The Vodacom contract was on my name so I arranged early cancellation of the contract, converted the number to prepaid and took out a new contract with MTN on 29/11/2013
Contract was approved by 2/12/2013 and I had to wait for stock of the phone which arrived by Wednesday. My old number was supposed to have been ported over on Thursday but this did not happen (unknown reason)
I then followed up on Friday only to be told that the was an error on the system and that it will be done. It was done on Friday at around 3pm and I was told that my number will be active within 24 hours.
I waited on Saturday and after 24 hours, nothing. I then called the contact centre ref:106941583 at around 17:30 spoke to Phindile over 30 mins and she advised that the turnaround time will be 72 hours. This was obviously not communicated to me at the outset. I wanted a resolution at the same time then she advised me to switch my phone off and try after an hour as the port was not active on the network.
This obviously did not work and I called again
