7 Day out of box failure not honored

On 29 Nov, 2013 I did an "upgrade" at the Vodacom Shop in Tygervalley (021-9142460) Manager = Denise.
I was - as in the past - informed that if "anything is wrong with the phone, I could return it to have it exchanged - no questions asked except if damaged.
I have just come out of hospital after a serious motorcycle hit-and-run accident and could not get back to the shop before Monday 2 Dec. 2013. They recommended a "SIM swap" and requested it to be done "Urgent". This did not materialize and the buck is being passed from one to the other. Now, the shop wants to 'take in the phone and send it away to be tested to see if there is anything wrong with the phone"??!!
What happened to the "exchange the phone without questions if no physical damage" on the part of Vodacom??!!
Is Vodacom in effect saying that their "contract" with the client is "false" and "meaningless"??
All I expect as client is for Vodacom to exchange this faulty phone with another (preferably a different brand, so that I can have contact with the people (clients) I usually deal with (this is urgent since I won't be mobile for the next 9-12 months) No service to my clients means ZERO INCOME!
PLEASE SORT OUT URGENTLY
