Cancelled contract but being charged

My husband agreed telephonically to a cellphone contract with Nashua Mobile approximately two months ago. He however cancelled the deal within 48 hours and was assured that there would be no penalties/cancellation fees involved. He has another contract with Nashua Mobile and a month ago this line of his was suspended. He has been going back and forth between the call centre and a branch in Durban to resolve the issue to no avail. Today his account was debited with over R1000 (this was after he paid a R140 cancellation fee when he was assured that his line would be reinstated).

No one seems to understand that he did not take delivery of the handset as his account on the system reflects that he did. We have been dealing with a bunch of incompetent people who simply pass our query from one person to the other. I regret the day that he ever started dealing with Nashua Mobile as ther service we have been receiving is truly shocking.

Being billed for something that you have not even taken delivery of is surely against consumer rights however no one seems to be able to assist us.
