Account in arrears but debit order not subtracted

Telecommunications

I have 2 accounts on my name at MTN and the monthly service fee exceeds a R1000. This morning, when trying to make a phone call from the one device I received a message stating that my account has been suspended. After waiting 15 minutes on the customer service line, someone eventually picked up. I was told that the account was suspended due to my account being in arrears, however the debit order only gets subtracted from my account on the last working day of the month which is Friday. The assistant noticed this and reinstated the account. I then was told that when a smart phone gets updated, it needs to be rebooted in order for it to be on the network again. What a load of nonsense. This is not the first iphone I own, and it has never lost network because of updates being done. The updates have nothing to do with the network. Also, no updates have been made to the phone in the last month. I suggest you get people on the customer service helpline who knows what they are talking about and can assist you instead of trying to cover up your mistake. You might also want to consider trying to inform your customer which number in line they are, to avoid letting them hang on for ages
