Still Waiting for Modem

On Tuesday 12 November my Grandmother and I went down to the local branch of Telkom (that being Key-West) in order to fill out an application for one of there internet services (2m uncapped advanced).
Service was great, the order process was smooth and efficient.
By Monday the 18th November a technician came out to install everything, but it was only to be told that they do not have any Modems (out of stock).
Now First off I would like to know why we were not informed of this beforehand? (is there not such a thing as STOCK CONTROL!)
Do they wait until they run out before informing there customers of such!
And Secondly why are we still waiting for our Modem? (more then a week later)
No one informed us that they LOW or OUT of stock. and as far as I'm concerned we should of received a replacement or temp modem (if it were not for the technician borrowing us a Modem, we would still have nothing)
Now, I either want a Modem a.s.a.p or a replacement (even if that be another model of the modem) or should I now take this matter further?
