No cooling off period for cell phone

I have been very happy with a Blackberry device. Come upgrade time, I was told in glowing terms the advantages of the Samsung s4. What I was not told was how this phone eats data voraciously compared to the Blackberry.
I felt I was not getting value for money, but it seems I am now locked into a 2 year contract that I do not want and there is no cooling off period.
Seems unfair to me. Any suggestions out there?
