MTN Warranty Benefit for prepaid

I cancelled my contract with MTN about two months ago, this subsequently cancelled the MTN mobile insurance that my phone was under as MTN does not insure prepaid customers. Shortly after the cancellation my phone just refused to switch on, didn't matter what I tried. I inquired If it could be covered under the warranty agreement two of the MTN consultants said yes, I did not need to have a contract with MTN, to have this benefit. I however need proof of purchase, I called MTN insurance to try see if I cannot get documentation stating that I was the rightful owner of the mobile handset in question. The handset was issued under MTN's insurance as I had lost my previous phone so they (MTN insurance) might have documentation. I have been cut off, refused access to the MTN insurance and also told that MTN does not cover damaged phones if I am mot a contract subscriber. I need a straight honest answer in writing 1) Will MTN fix my phone even though I'm now a prepaid customer, although the phone was taken under contract 2) Who do I get proof of payment from? This is frustrating!
