Faulty phone

I HAVE A CONTRACT WITH MTN SP, Which everything was done through the call cenrte, I took out a samsung s3 mini sgh, now 6 monthes later every time i make /recieve a call or charge it SMoke comes out, i than took it to the glen mall mtn store they said i can take it to my nearest mtn store witch is South gate mall but before i did that i called the customer service help line and they said i can take it to my nearest store fo, r free repair or a new device because the phone is still under garentee, i than took the phone to southgate mall store i gave them my contract my latest statement of payment with full package off phone, box charger headset everything, now two weeks later they send me a bill of R 977, 00 to fully repair the phone, the phone has a factory or a manufacury wiring fault, i pay every month my contract why must i pay to fix there mess, when i called in they said if its a manufacure fault it will be free to repair, so now i must still pay for something i dont have which is not right or my fault, please [Email Removed]
