Vodacom Customer "Don't" Care Centre

I upgraded my son's cellphone for his birthday, which is on the 7th Nov. I did the upgrade around the 16th Oct but only gave him the phone on the evening of 6th Nov. I called the Vodacom Customer Care Centre to do a sim swop and after holding for 20min I was told that they can't do it as the account is in arrears. I am not sure how an account can be in arrears if it is paid by debit order and the reality is that Vodacom can take whatever amount they feel I owe them. I don't believe that they understand their own billing system and find this unacceptable as I have upgraded on many occasions and I have never experienced this before. Perhaps they should considering re-naming the centre the Vodacom Customer "Don't" Care Centre - this would be more appropriate! Perhaps I will cancel the debit order with my bank and they can uplift the phone and I will take my business to Cell C!
