Hi;

I have recently pulled my credit report only to find that there has a default listing of R2500 from Telkom.

My agreement with Telkom was for a 1MB ADSL line with a home telephone number, these services were suspended during my temporary loss of employment.

I made telkom aware of my employment status and made an acknowledgedment of debt and an arragement to pay asap.

Telkom has however handed my account over without prior notice or procedure and I was completely unaware that they had taken steps to escalate this matter having pleaded and acknowledge my debt telephonically.

I have however been paying this account through their appointed attorney and I'm looking to settle by december.

As a family man with dependents, my only dispute is the manner in which this account was escalated to a default listing without prior notice and the impact this default will have on my report for the next 24 months even after paying it off.

I suppose one can only be grateful for this credit amnesty that is under discussion and refrain from future dealings with Telkom.
