I am utterly disappointed in MTN and how they are us.

My dad has a contract phone with MTN that I used for the past two years, the contract expired in May 2013, we desperately wanted to cancel the contract but I was unable to do so without my dad which is understandable. I was told that I need to pay the outstanding amount then the contract will be cancelled. My dad never received a statement since May 2013 anyways on Thursday he received a call from MTN for the first time saying he now owes R903. We don't understand how this is possible as the Sim Card was out of a phone since June 2013 and subsequently the number disconnected. They are saying that airtime has been sent to the number every month. But are we suppose to pay the full outstanding balance if we received no statements and only one phone call in five months? Their service is so pathetic no one seems to be able to help. But how can they expect us to donate money to them?
