Virgin won't release my cell-number!

2 months ago I ported away from Virgin Mobile to MTN.
It has taken me up to now to realise that in all that time I have NOT been receiving calls or sms's from anyone on the Cell-C network!
I have reported this to MTN twice, and apparently the reason is because Virgin Mobile will not release my number.
How much business have I lost in the last 2 months due to unreceived calls/sms's?!!
I am at my wits end. I beg anyone at Virgin Mobile to please, please, PLEASE resolve this issue for me as fast as possible.
