Vodacom
USELESS WARRANTY

Telecommunications

I took up a contract with Vodacom in Jan 2013 and received a brand new blackberry bold. Since September (8 months into a 2 year contract) the phone started to give me serious trouble. It can't take photo's anymore, it shuts down in the middle of a conversation and this morning my phone froze at 3 am, so my alarm did not go off. I overslept!! I have been to the Vodashop in The Neelsie, but was told to go to a repair center. So I went to the repair center in Eikestad Mall. Here I was told that I need to pay to have my phone fixed! This makes no sense at all seeing as my phone is under warranty. What is the purpose of a warranty then? Vodacom will only fix my phone for free if I take it to a service center. The nearest one is in Somerset Mall. So I can either pay R250 to have my phone fixed in Stellenbosch or drive out R250's of petrol to have my phone fixed for free in Somerset West. This is BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE!! We entered into a contract whereby Vodacom agreed to provide me with a product and cell phone service that works in return for my monthly payments. I am keeping up my end of the bargain. They provided me with a faulty product! Why do I have to pay to have it fixed? FURIOUS
