Very Bad reception - calling myself

When I started with Cell C about 6 years ago, i never had a problem with my reception, until 2013 when I would make a call or receive a call I was always being told - "Your breaking up, Sorry what did you say, can you repeat that" Highly irritating as i pay good money for Airtime, as well as other people do, that just never seems to last. I have stayed loyal to Cell C and was planning on getting another contract - but now The latest issue is i seem to keep calling myself, I will dial a number and instead of going to to person i have dialled all i hear is myself, almost echoing. Now granted i dont have a new phone, so i thought aggg is just my phone, until yesterday when my boss said, all i hear is myself, on his brand new iPhone so - you tell me why is it that this is happening, am i using my airtime that costs good money to buy to call myself!!!
