When looking for a SmartInternet Data bundle the advertised cost per MB did not add up.
Example: The 15 GB promo is R399.00 pm and they say cost is 1c per MB.
As there is 1024MB in a GB it is 15x1024 that gives 15360MB.
To get the cost per MB we have to divide the cents charged by MB provided.
I then get to 2.6 cents/MB, but they say it is 1c.
I contacted them via the chat line, asking how they got their figures. The only answer forthcoming was that they are correct, without any explanation. The person ended the session. All further chats were terminated by the operators as soon as I put the problem to them again.
My complaints thus are: Unless Telkom has a good explanation on their method of calculating costs, it may be seen as misleading/false/bait advertising. Their customer service people in their attitude unless they can prove that every chat was ended due to a technical glitch, in which case their ability to provide a service must be questioned.
