DATA ON MODEM DISAPPEAR AND ACCOUNT NOW OVER R3000

More than 1.2GB data on modem on Friday.
It showed on modem and on sms that we requested from Vodacom.
Suddenly the data available disappeared and I loaded 100MB from my phone to stop out of data usage.
When I checked on Vodacom website WITH ANOTHER MODEM THE 100MB SHOWED AS DEPLETED AND I DIDNT EVEN USE THE FIRST MODEM AFTER IT SHOWED THAT MODEM account was about R3400.
YESTERDAY AFTER NOT USING THE MODEM THE ACCOUNT SUDDENTLY INCREASED TO ABOUT R3900. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE IF THE MODEM WAS NOT USED AFTER WE GOT THE SHOCK OF R3400 ON SATURDAY. THAT INDICATES . NO EXPLANATION CAN JUSTIFY THIS.
HOW CAN I TRUST A SERVICE PROVIDER WITH A RECORD OF QUESTIONABLE ACCOUNTS.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENS. LAST TIME IT WAS AN ACCOUNT OF R6000.
I have been a customer for more than 13 years but I am considering changing to another service provider.
