SAMSUNG Tablet - Was told to pay R725 for battery

Telecommunications

I have a 24-month contract with MTN for a Samsung Tablet 10.1. Four weeks ago the Tablet stopped working, did not want to switch on. Took it to MTN Service Provider at Kollonade & they booked it in for repairs. Two weeks later i got an sms with a Repair quote of R725.20 & advised to reply YES to accept or NO to reject. I called MTN number shown in the sms - 0839000349 & was told it is for a battery. I argued that this should form part of warranty & was told warranty for a battery is for 6-months. My issue is that why SAMSUNG and MTN give its customers 6-months warranty for a battery instead of a warranty which is equivalent to 24-month contract like they do with mechanical parts? This is unacceptable, Does Samsung not have confidence in the lifespan of their batteries to only provide 6-months warranty? My contract is 16-months old & already Tablet has battery & technical issues. I am disappointed with both MTN & SAMSUNG. I have since paid the amount.
