MTN replacing faulty handset with a faulty one

My blackberry 9900 had a software and qwerty keyboard problem. I sent it for repairs and was called back after a week that they will be unable to repair it. They then asked to replace it with a refurbished one which I agreed to. Collected the phone yesterday only to find out when I got home that the replacement phone also has a software problem. Why will Mtn replace a problem phone with another problem phone?
