Blackberry Torch sent in for repairs 7times

Hello, I have been a loyal MTN customer for years i have never had a problem with any of the handsets provided to me, until about year or so ago, i was so excited to have a blackberry torch and couldn't wait to get started.
I quickly realised something was wrong and sent the device in for the first time, they were helpful at first but then i had to send the phone in for repairs several times it has been sent in for a total of 8 TIMES.
Today a woman phones me from technical repairs telling me (on the 8th time i might add) my phone is out of warranty and if i want it fixed i would have to pay R2070 which is crazy because i should not have to send in a phone so many times for it to work, each time they claim it is fixed? I have had to buy a new phone cash just to be able to have a cellphone because the Blackberry Torch is either in for repairs or refusing to work. Am i wrong for expecting a phone to be fixed by the 7th or 8th time being in for repairs?
If i want it repaired i have to pay for it to be fixed and this will be the 8th time, this is ridiculous because if it was fixed the 7th time i sent it in it would not need to be sent in an 8th time am i right?
