Telkom
Telkom enforcing an expired ADSL contract

Telecommunications

I decided to downgrade to a lower Telkom ADSL package, and attempted to do so on the Telkom website. The website to order a service does not work. One starts at [URL Removed] and when you click on the Order button it takes you through a whole process, but the end it does not pick up your selection and it is impossible to conclude the order.

I then decided it is time to switch to MWEB, their ordering website at least works! Since then MWEB has informed me TWICE that the order has been cancelled because Telkom says that I still have a contract with them, I had a 2-year contract that expired on 16/12/2012. After the first cancellation I went to TelkomDirect in Tygervalley, who confirmed that my contract has expired, and I got a printout with the shop stamp on it stating that the contract has expired. I sent this, as well as my Telkom account showing that the contract is on month 30 of 24 to MWEB as proof to use when dealing with Telkom to move my account. Yesterday I got the second SMS from MWEB that the order was cancelled due to the Telkom file on my ADSL.

It seems that Telkom is able to block me from moving to MWEB!
