I did an early upgrade 2 months before the expiry of my contract with Cell C. The new contract includes 1Gig of data so I started using data assuming that this new bundle was active. After using 100MB, my previous bundle limit, I noticed that I was being charged for data. I called the help desk querying why I was being charged and they notified me that my new contract would only be active from the 20th July, even though I was NOT told in store that this would be the case. I accepted the explanation and because I have been charged 15c/MB I continued to use data as I would normally have in my previous contract. I then checked my account balance and noticed it was a lot higher than usual and realised that I am now being charged at around 90c/MB. On the 28th June I called the help desk again to query this and the operator said it should be charged at 15c/MB and will escalate it. I have called back twice since then (10th July / 16th July) and have not been given a suitable response as to why I am being billed 6x my normal data rate and why I wasn't informed that this would happen. My bill for June is R700 more than average and I find this unacceptable!
