STILL UNDER WARRANTY-BUT THEY DON'T WANT TO REPLAC

I received my cell on the 8th of July around 14:00.
My phone started having speaker problems this past weekend, i went to 8ta stor @ Kolonade a very unhelpfull lady told me i must report it where i bought it.
i called 8ta call centre to see if they can assist me and the lady said i must take it in - asked about the warranty - she said it ends today.
i went to Telkom Mobile as soon as i could this morning - i was there at 10am till 12pm.
Guess what they said the phone has been out of the box for more than 7days. told the lady that really incorrect because it was taken out of the box after 14:00 on the 8th July so technically it has not been 7 days full.

I wonder why the lady at the call centre said its within WARRANTY - i wonder why i wa mislead??
I will be without a phone for 14days if note more - as the lady who "tried" to assist me stated.
so telkom mobile people tell me - what defines 24hrs to you?
as far as i know the phone is still to reach its 7day warranty period - is the type of service your company aspires to give to their clients
THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE
