Vodacom
Data - Top Up Contract

Telecommunications

I currently have a R200 top up contract with Vodacom. I recently purchased 1 gb, month to month data for R149.00. Previously I purchased once off data and this was subtracted from my airtime at the time. At the end of June 2013 I was billed for the R149.00 even though I currently have an airtime balance of R351.00. Please advise why the once off data was subtracted from my airtime and not the month to month data. What is the use of having a top up contract when you are still being billed for data. Why can the R149.00 not be subtracted from my airtime balance? I contacted the call centre via your call line chat and was advised that I misunderstood the terms and conditions. Your terms and conditions are ambiguous for top up clients. Currently where it says ' Your account will be debited within R per month until you deactivate this service' It does not say that you will be invoiced and the money subtracted from your bank account. To me this means that it will be subtracted from my airtime balance. In future please stipulate your terms and conditions clearly. I wonder how many other top up clients have fallen into this trap! I am considering cancelling all my contracts.
