Why on earth do you think I will give my ID numbe

I received a voice mail message asking me to call a number. NOT a number I knew.
The person says they work for Vodacom, and then ask me to confirm m y ID number.
When I say - tell it to me then I will confirm if you have the right number, they tell me they cannot help me.

As obtaining someone's ID number is the first step in so many, I will NOT on princiole give out my ID number over the phone, unless I initiate the conversation.

You have the cell number, I am PHONING FROM IT! So it is obvious what account I am linked to.
