I am paying for my daughters mtn contract of R330pm for the last 21 months. She was due for an upgrade which she did at mtn Grahamstown. She was not told upfront that she had to pay - R150 for a new sim before she could use her new phone. I paid this. 2 weeks later she gets an sms that she owes another R147 for an upgrade fee of which she was also not informed at the time of the upgrade. Her services was then suspended and reconnected after I complained on Hello Peter. She then received an invoice that included another R150 for promotional fee. I contacted mtn and refused to pay these extra charges and requested that the upgrade be cancelled and the account credited with these charges. I have not received a reply from mtn. Instead my daughter is receiving threats of legal action from mtn. These threats do not scare me and I will be laying a complaint with the consumer, credit and communications ombudsman.
