Vodacom
Handed over without Notice

Telecommunications

I had cancelled my account with Vodacom last year and made an arrangement to pay them an agreed amount every month. I tried my best to make payments every month. I had requested for them to send me statements to my email address every time i called and still nothing. Now when i called to find out whats my balance on my account, they said they are not allowed to talk to me cos i have been handed over to the lawyers! No notice, no phone call, no letter and no sms, nothing! And now the Lawyers said I owe them 2 times what I initially owed Vodacom when I cancelled the contract. I know my rights as a consumer -"a consumer must receive notice when he/she in in default under a credit agreement, prior to the credit provider taking any legal action". Vodacom had ALL my contact details, why did they not contact me??
