Illogical warranty period

Veronica from MTN (REQ:2300971) responded to my query stating that my Samsung Galaxy S3 acquired in January 2013 is 6 (six) months old on 10 June 2013 and therefore lose my replacement warranty on my handset. This is pathetic, as, anybody will tell you that the phone is actually 5 (five) months old.
So, my phone was purchased on 07 January 2013. On the 08th January, my phone is 1 month old?
If a person is born on 01 January 2013, then on 01 January 2014 the person will be 2 years old???

i am confused here. Maybe MTN will shed some light on this matter, as we would actually all be 1 year older than we actually are!!!

I WANT to know how Veronica calculates the age of the phone? Is MTN trying to evade responsibility in this matter?
