I booked my phone in for repairs couple of weeks ago after the Cavendish branch confirmed that my phone was still under warranty. I then get a call from Head Office saying that I am out of warranty and that the cost to fox the phone is -R2500 which I refused to pay and the phone was sent back to the branch. After visiting the branch a couple of times I get told that on MTN Cavendish branch system my warranty ends in July and the Head Office system indicates the warranty expires in March.
I then asked the sales consultant at Cavendish to cancel my contract... she then replies by saying I can only cancel in July. My phone is out of warranty (which lasts for 24months) but I cant cancel my contract. Then I get told by the consultant that the phoned was originally opened and used in March hence the reason for Head Office saying my warranty is over.
Why was I sold a second hand phone by MTN??? Does this not contravene MTN's policiies and procedure manual??? I feel that I have been unfairly treated and would like an explanation in writing for this incident. I have discussed this matter with our family attorney and I would have a valid claim against MTN.
