WASP Android tips fradulent subscribtion

Telecommunications

I received an error message on my android device (On the top of my device by the signal status) stating that an android update had failed and a link was opened automatically to an android anti-virus software which appeared to come from google's "play store", the download stated it was free. I downloaded the application assuming it was legit, created by google for this issue, (it requested my cell number which i gave). I soon after received a message congratulating me on subscribing to android tips at R10 per day and R30 upfront. I cancelled it an hour later (I waited this long because i was worried about losing more money as I've heard of them charging you to send these STOP sms's at ridiculous rates), non the less i sent stop. This morning the 12th I contacted the call centre (011 062 1402) on the subscription sms just to have them tell me i had opted in automatically by sending an sms I did not send myself (the opt in sms's must of been sent by them when i gave the application my cell number). I contacted Vodacom and they told me i was still subscribed... Vodacom should have a better method of dealing with these incidents and refund clients where needed or offer better secu
