Vodacom
BlackBerry warranty repair issue

Telecommunications

I have a BlackBerry that is approx 18 months old. The charging port fell out of the phone. It is clear the pins on the port are all still straight, there is no evidence of physical damage. The phone is under warranty. I took it to Vodacom's repair centre and was told I have to pay for the repair as it is considered physical damage. Apparently inserting and removing the charger numerous times can cause this and it is my fault it fell out. BlackBerry SA were similarly of little assistance. No wonder they are losing market share. I find it totally unacceptable that this is not a warranty-covered repair.
