I made the mistake of taking out a data contract with vodacom.
I require a reliable and affordable internet connection for my work and contrary to how this promotion was marketed, I get neither. The R202 router device alternates between "Connecting" and SMS Only, then temporarily connects and drops again. Before receiving this notification I went into a vodacom "customer care" asking if I could upgrade my 3Gig Day/3Gig Night package to which I was told this is not possible so I'm stuck with an unreliable 3Gig connection. In addition I was dismayed to discover that when you hit your 3Gig "Day" limit, your "Night Owl" Limit is automatically disallowed also. Don't be fooled like I was. Go with Cell C or Telkom and avoid a 24 month contract with Vodacom at all costs. When I asked to cancel the contract as I was not happy with the data limitations and cost I was told that if I cancelled I would have to pay for the device and all the remaining months, even for the data that I haven't used yet. If you opt for this package you will also get stuck with a very hefty out of bundle amount if you don't set a limit. Some months have run up to in excess of R2000!
