Trying to activate a new sim-card for over a week

I've been trying to activate a new sim-card for over a week. I received the sim-card (along with my new phone) from MTN Direct (no complaints here, very good service, quick delivery). But when I tried to activate the new sim-card the machine message states that the ID number I gave and the sim-card number i gave don't match. Then I try to talk to a call-center agent, and the line just drops, this has been happening since last Monday (27th of May) and is still happening. When I tried to call the MTN/SP support desk, my query type isn't on the list. No-one has been able to help me in this regard.

I'm very frustrated with trying to complete this simple task, It should be a 5 minute process, instead it's taking me over a week.
