Vodacom
Vodacom is not interested in retaining customers

Telecommunications

I have been a Vodacom subscriber since 1996. That's 17 years of pre-paid contracts. Two phones, average of R 2000, 00 per month. Then got the good old "you qualify for an upgrade" was about to sign up with them again when a lady next to me in the que had come in to cancel her account. Said she had just signed up with the competition at a much more competitive rate. So decided to investigate. Turns out that Vodacom is the least competitive and THE WORST is that they do not have a customer retention policy. In their hunger to sign up new customers, they have ignored their support base of existing clients. I have been trying unsuccessfully to speak to anyone who is interested in trying to retain me as a customer. Called their "retentions division" and explained the situation and said I would appreciate a call from someone in management who might be interested in retaining a customer. No calls yet! Even the staff at the Vodashop that I deal with have admitted that they have nothing in place to incentivise existing clients to stay. Their rates are higher than both MTN and CellC and on the strength of that I have voted with my feet.
