Good Service, bad product

I have been a sworn Vodacom client for many years. The main reason is the service excellence of the personnel of Vodashop in Vredenburg. Service rendered by them are continuously good and very friendly. All the staff members are well informed and trained.
I have recently upgraded my contract and after good consideration decided to trade in my two year old Blackberry in for a Blackberry Curve 9320. The new phone has a battery problem. It was sent back for repairs and came back worse: the last day I have used it, the battery lasted only until 12:45!
The battery of the old Blackberry I have traded in, lasted for up to 36 hours after 24 months of frequent use. According to the specifications of the Blackberry Curve 9320 it's battery capacity is supposed to be better than the old one.
I have been without my new useless phone for almost a month now! Where does this leave me as a consumer? I need to pay my bill but have no use of the phone.
Situations like these must be a terrible problem for the good personnel of Vodashop. They are bound and restricted by rules made by their company.
