Given second line instead of upgrade

Telecommunications

I was due for an upgrade in April. Requested an Iphone 4S as shops only offer Iphone5 & I wanted a cheaper contract. I selected the 24mth Anytime TopUp100.

Tried to activate simcard on 1/5/13 but failed. MTN call centre told me I had a second contract, not an upgrade. Phone then became active but doesn't function & there's no evidence of a new number in the paperwork. Number for MTNdirect was consistently engaged but assumed this was because it was a public holiday.

Spoke to Siphosethu Ntuli on 2/5/13 who insisted that I'd asked for a 2nd number & that he had voice recordings to prove this. He claimed that I wasn't due for an upgrade which was why I'd been given the 2nd contract. I questioned the logic of this when I'd clearly been searching for an inexpensive deal on an Iphone. Asked to speak to Serica Dickinson (the name given as manager) but she was in a meeting & would call later - still haven't heard anything from anyone.

I'm still using my old phone with the old simcard, and this was the number I gave as a contact number.

I wish to place on record that I never asked for a second number and will not pay for one. Please, MTN, get your act together and sort this out.
