I have been reading the many reports on the poor service and billing problems experienced by Planet Fitness members. I too have had this type of service.

I paid upfront for a three year membership at the Fourways branch in December 2009. In November 2012 I advised them that I would not be renewing my membership which expired in December 2012 (due to poor service). They have been sending me invoices since December and have now handed me over to attorneys as I have not paid them. My contract states that they can start invoicing me from 1st January 2013, if I have not informed them that I will not be renewing. Their collections company phoned and threatened that I would be blacklisted etc etc.

Please, please, please, be very careful when signing these gym contracts and read the fine print!!!
