I joined Planet Fitness (Craighall) in Oct 2012, I was signed up for a 36 month contract. However the Consumer Protection Act states very clearly that the maximum period for a fixed term contract is 24 months, how is this possible that PF is signing members and holding us liable to a 36 month contract? Then Craighall planet fitness decides to undergo renovations from May 2013, and is still currently undergoing renovations (September 2013) which they have extended to November 2013. This wasnt disclosed to me when I signed my "36" month contract! I now have been paying for a gym membership from May - Sep (5 months, total of R1700) that I havent used as I am unable to get to another gym. Ideally after the shocking service I would like to cancell my membership, but I can't, unless I pay R2500 to shut down my membership! So I go to Wanderers (Craighalls' temporary home gym) ask them to freeze my membership, I fill out a from. Wanderes refers me to Roodepoort to confirm that my membership is actually froozen and everytime I phone the consultants drop the line, and never get back to me. Poor poor service! What am I suppose to do now. When I try phone head office, the line is conjested?
