In July 2012 I took out a gym contract with Virgin Active at my then area of work. I signed the contract after the sales consultant assured me that I will be able to move my gym contract once in a 2 month period with absolutely no charges to me or increase in membership. I mention this as this is the sole reason I was willing to sign. See I asked this because I was likely to relocate because of work.

On Saturday I went into the gym at Faerie Glen to switch my gym contract there. They informed me that I have to contact the call center at head office. Fine I did so. Come Monday I phone them for the switch a lo and behold there is a hike of almost R150 in my membership fees - this after I was promised it would not be the case.

I immediately opted to cancel and asked for the outstanding balance etc. I was informed that I have to pay an amount of just over R1300 to get out. I was told if I pay the money immediately no further debit orders will run and my relationship with Virgin Active will have run its course.

It's now Wednesday and I have not heard a peep or response e-mail from HQ.
