REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE CANCELLATION OF CONTRACT

I have been trying to cancel my son's Virgin Active contract since November last year. I have received and printed acknowledgements of my mails from the Virgin Active website as proof and yet after 4 mails and 3 un-returned phone calls I have debited with an increased Virgin Active debit order instead of a cancellation. I specifically advised Virgin Active that my son is in Matric in 2014 and is not allowed to go to gym this year as his studies have got to take preference. I am actually wondering why no-one from Virgin Active has contacted me to confirm the canellation or even note the intention of cancellation. Is this the only way that Virgin Active can retain their members by ignoring their cancellation requests so that they can automatically renew the contract for a further year at an increased fee. I am totally disgusted in Virgin Active's client service and have again left a message for the branch manager to confirm cancellation of my son's gym membership by close of business today. This is completely unacceptable that a 18 year old has already had to experience the industry's lack of client service.
