I sign a 1 year contract, they want me to pay 2 yrs

Hi,

We (me and my husband) joined Virgin active in August 2011, We utilized the gym for three months, then I find out I was pregnant and We stopped going to the gym. We continued to pay our monthly fees, even though we were no longer using it. After a year We stopped paying, as our contract was finish.

In May this year, I received a phone call from attorneys demanding us to pay virgin active outstanding balance. I was so shocked and I told a call centre agent that we were not awing Virgin Active, our contract with them was fully paid and we never sign another contract with them.

She told me that, we will have to pay for September 2012 until in May 2013, as we did not inform virgin active that We were not intending to renew our contract, their system renewed it automatically.

Kindly assist us to settle this case. Virgin active was supposed to call us and ask if we were willingly to renew our contract, not just renew it automatically without contacting us. I am very angry and I need them to remove our name from their attorneys and close the current contract, as we do not have any contract with them.
