My membership ended in September 2012, and I went onto a month to month contract. I called the customer support / call center to inform them that I would need to cancel my membership before February as I am going overseas, how long in advance should I do so. They told me 20 days. So, I went into the gym on January 10th, to cancel my membership. No problems, no information given. However on the 1st feb 2013 R57.50 gets deducted off my account. When I call the support office they say because I cancelled outside of my 20 days! I politely told them I was informed by club staff that I was within my 20 days, to which Jacquie in headoffice / call center told me that it is 20 working business days. If this is true, WHY did no one inform me before I cancelled and enquired twice! I think Virgin Active tries to weazel money out of people every single way possible! I am most unhappy.
