I had all intention of joining Virgin Active through my Discovery Vitality and am shocked by how my situation was handled. I was told that I had picked the right day to join as there was a great special available. "If you join Virgin Active today we will knock off R110 on activation, which will not be the case tomorrow or February. This offer ends today though."
So simple maths indicates I would then be able to join for R 755 as R 865 is the activation fee stated on Discoverys website and indicated to me when I called the call center. This is what I got back "If you join today you will pay a once off fee of R865 Activation Fee. Without the offer it will be R975."
Really Virgin? While I understand my anger may seem trivial (it is only R 110 after all) but that is surely not best practise and your sales team is clearly leading potential customers to believe they are getting some kind of special when in actual fact you are fabricating this offer. That is, in my opinion, unacceptable. I did email the consultant back to inform him of this mathematical error (in the hopes that maybe math isn't his strong suit) but I received no reply. Disgusting and unprofessional!
