Misrepresentation

My husband and i signed a 3 year contract with planet in 2010 and paid cash upfront. Upon signing the contract we were given the impression that we will only pay this amount only. Then came December, our access cards were blocked, and we were told we had to pay levies every December. I was shocked and unhappy but i paid it, my husband, however, didnt pay it and discontinued from using gym then. I continued to go to gym for 3 months and then stopped because i fell pregnant.

Just recently we got a call from debt collectors saying we were handed over by planet fitness. How can we pay levies if we are no longer going to gym. What surprises me most is that they never called us to demand the money and all of a sudden we are handed over. We called them and they said they couldnt help us.
