Cellphone more important than custome

On 14 April i visited Pick and Pay Clothing to look for a particular type of sock for my grandson - i could not find it at the baby clothing section but purchased to jerseys and moved to the till to make payment. There appears to be no attendants at the till? and the security had to ring the bell for assistance. While waiting in noticed one sock (the type i was looking for) hanging by the tills without a partner and it appeared to be the only one. When the cashier arrived he was on his cellphone typing and i asked him if he knew where i could find these socks but without even looking up he just answered "no" and carried on on his phone. I carried on looking while he was still happily typing away on his cell. I ended up not finding anything, he never asked if i did, and i carried on paying. While i appreciate technology and would also be lost without my phone, i am not allowed to be on my phone while attending to clients! Has technology robbed us of good customer relations and service? I was really shocked at the total lack of interest displayed! Very poor service and i don't think they will see me again! I can find the same type of clothing somewhere else!
